Loyola College is one of the most prestigious institutions in India, with an impressively large number of accomplishments in the field of fine arts. The Jesuit goal of education is holistic formation. Some students may thrive in academics, while others may excel in fine arts, athletics, leadership, and so on. For this purpose, we are providing a certified programme in ‘Sound Engineering’ at Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering and Technology (LICET), to enhance the potential talent of students in music. The college is located at the heart of the city and is well-equipped with a state-of-the-art audio studio staffed by experienced, dedicated, and highly qualified professionals in the industry. The course is primarily provided to Loyola students, but is also extended to outsiders as well. Students are presently offered two courses (6 months each). The course gives in-depth expertise in all elements of audio engineering, and following completion, students will be offered internships at international institutions. The major objective of LSE is to offer all candidates a comprehensive bundle of practical expertise in sound engineering within the given timeframe.

Mr. Suman Maria Tony

A skilled audio technician with extensive understanding of sound engineering and music technology. With a wide spectrum of teaching experience, he specializes in and educates students on the many modules of Audio Engineering, such as recording, mixing, and mastering, the relevance of music theory in learning music production, and rigorous training on audio production software. His passion for music inspired him to create a recording studio on the Loyola campus. With a desire to study more, his self-learning education continues, which he then passes on to his students. In addition to instructing, he has mixed, mastered, and composed a few songs as well as commercial short films.

Mr. Emmy Paul

As a successful and energetic professional, he has 51 years of qualitative expertise in sound recording for motion pictures, television, documentaries, and advertising, including spot advertising, jingles, voiceovers, and much more. He is currently working as a studio architect, designing motion picture, television, radio, demo studios, auditoriums, and home theaters. Previously worked as a sound recordist for more than 300 feature films in Prasad studios. His past experience also includes working for Indian space research organization-site experiment(Ahmedabad), as an assistant engineer for Western Outdoor Advertising(Bombay), and as a production manager for a magnetic tape manufacturing company in Bombay. Apart from this, Mr. Emmy is also known to have the most exceptional organizational and planning skills in the music industry.

Mr. S. Sadanandam

Sri Sadanandam, (son of late Sri R. Sudarsanam, a great music director) has worked with Maestro Ilalyaraja as a leading guitarist since his first film, and he has also developed into a successful music director besides being a gifted teacher. The veteran musician has worked with several other musicians, has composed various pieces of music for Sathiya Jothi Films Serial Gopuram & Varam, a few documentary films, performed with Sahitya Academy, and has performed throughout India and overseas in countries like the U.S., U.K., Australia, Singapore, Dubai, Malaysia, and Canada.

Mr. Sathya Moorthy

During his 28 year career in the music business, he had worked in A.R.Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory as a music assistant for several years. He had also worked at Prasad Studios, Vadapalani. There are many different branches of audio engineering in which he is exceptionally well versed, some of which are dubbing, music production, mixing, sound effects, and much more. Since the beginning of his career in music, he had always been interested in learning every aspect of becoming a sound engineer, thereby making him one of the few people to have sound knowledge and equivalent skills at the time. He has worked on a large number of songs to date. Currently he is into the streaming line and has a channel on Youtube for kids called ‘Chuchu TV’ which has over 50 million subscribers and multilingual videos.

Mr. Mahalingam Marimuthu

As a playback singer, he has been performing on stage since 2000. He has over 100 songs in Tamil and Telugu films on his current song list. Tamil movies with his background voice include Komban, Rajini Murugan, Sethupathi, Mesaya Murukku, and many more. He has recorded songs for leading music directors including Ilayaraja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, James Vasanthan, Vijayandan, Vidhya sagar, Deva, Srikanth Deva, D.Iman, C.Sathya.

More than 60 offers have been made to him for upcoming movies. He has performed on stage in Canada (more than ten trips), Quwait, Oman, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. Also, he has judged singing contests on Sun TV, Vijay TV, Jaya TV, Kalaignar TV, and Pudhuyugam.

Mr. Siva

Mr. Siva has been an outstanding sound engineer in the film industry for over 17 years. Among the artists he has worked with are Mr. Deva and Mr. Srikanth Deva, as well as Mr. Sathya Moorthy at SASI Studios. He has worked in over 40 films and multiple music albums both in Tamil and Kannada film industry. He is also an expert in stereo 5.1 mixing and mastering.

Mr. Sivaprakasam

He is a well-known Professional Percussion musician in the music industry with over 20 years of experience. He has worked along with other music directors including Deva and Srikanth Deva for over 12 years. His works include being part of over 100 featured films, few of which are: Vyapaari – Tamil – Starring: SJ Surya, Tamanna; Arumugam- Tamil – Starring: Bharath, Priya Mani; Sivappu Mazhai – Starring: Vivek; Doubles – Tamil – Starring : Prabhu Deva; M.Kumaran s/o of Mahalakshmi – Tamil – Starring: Jayam Ravi, Asin; Sivakasi-Tamil-Starring: Vijay, Asin; Ee-Tamil – Starring Jeeva, Nayanthara and many more. He has also been part of various music programmes held in Canada, Singapore, Sharjah, and Malaysia.

Mr. Ashwin Vinayagamoorthy

An Indian film composer and award-winning music producer predominantly working in the Tamil Film Industry. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail University, FL. He has composed music for feature films such as Yaadhumaagi Nindraai, Vidhi Madhi (Ultaa), and Jigiri Dosthu. He is currently working on the music for director Kalyan’s “Jalsa,” starring Prabhudeva. In addition, he has scored numerous regional and international short films that have garnered numerous awards and nominations. The first Tamil song mixed in Dolby Atmos, ‘Vaazhvile’, is also by him. He has charted #1’s on Radio/iTunes/Amazon with multiple features on top playlists in iTunes, Spotify and Gaana.

Mr. Arumbu

Mr. Arumbu  is a proficient percussionist and rhythm programmer. He possesses expertise in a variety of live instruments such as Tabal, Dolock, Dolkey, Dhandiya, Miruthangam, Ganjira, Gadam, Tapes, Tavil, Pambai, Udukai, Nagara, Taiming Effects, Drums & Pad, Jembai, Dharbuka, Thumba, Congo, Bango, and so on.

Ms. Nadia Kathryn Rathnakumar

A Computer Science Engineer with a strong interest in music. With a strong technical background, she has a lot to offer. Having been a vocalist right from her schooling, she has also honed her harmonizing skills across the years. She can be a potentially good bass singer as well. In addition to her management ability, team association, and excellent communication skills, she is a well-rounded individual.
